Zebra and quagga mussels, sand, phragmites, plaster, timber,

This sculpture, which is made of materials gathered from Lake Erie such as zebra and quagga mussel shells, is a human-scale version of the sixteenth-century astronomical instruments at Jantar Mantar in Jaipur, India, and is an interactive structure.
Commissioned by FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art. In partnership with University Circle Incorporated, University at Buffalo Arts Collaboratory, and Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
