Phase 1: 26 trees in wheeled containers, human caretakers, UV lights, scents, red carpeting and found objects.
Here human caretakers attend to the trees and interact with visitors, sometimes through objects placed among the trees. The objects relate to certain questions posed to the caretakers about their past. The piece consists of the relations of care, causality and narration between the living and non-living entities there present.
Phase 2: 26 planted trees, found objects of personal significance
This copse of twenty-six trees has been selected to survive in this region, grow zone 8A. The work calls for a recognition of the value of relationships between groups of beings, requiring nurturing and care over generations.
